Volunteer Boundaries Training - 26 June

Shedders, shed managers and supervisors might consider taking up the training offered by Voluteering Central Coast in the displayed flyer.

All shedders are volunteers and those running sheds and engaging with projects at sheds should be aware of managing expectations and boundaries in their roles.

Men's Sheds Central Coast Inc is member of Volunteering Central Coast and can offer assistance for those shedders seeking to attend this training.

Pension officers

Bob Ihlein, President of The Entrance Men's Shed has been a pensions officer of the RSL Sub-branch at The Entrance for a number of years. He could see that other pensions and welfare officers needed some up to date information about Mens Sheds, their aims, facilities and programs.

He arranged for a presentation to the group at the Ourimbah RSL at the regular monthly meeting of the Pensions Officers of the Central Coast.  With the new Shed Banners coming online he allowed enough time for their development and delivery and brought the whole show together for  Friday, 11 May.

Bob and Kim displayed the MScci banners and some of the individual shed banners still on hand and presented the current status of Men's Sheds on the Central Coast. There was a strong response from the group as they became more aware that the role of sheds addressses many similar objectives to the social side of their welfare work.

The Pensions and Welfare office were keen to book the Mobile Mens Shed for their family event on 28 October and have their own projects for engagement with kids, vets and their families.

The group also asked many questions about how to engage with Men's Sheds, support the aims of sheds and better provide for socialisation of Veterans at various stages of socialisation.

Shed Banners

There was quite a display of banners at the Mens Sheds Central Coast Inc montly meeting.

These banners are for each shed to display either at their own shed or at community events, anywhere they will make an impact to promote the shed. The sheds that attended were eager to take away their banners and show them off.

Eric has done a great job of setting out the banners for impact and relevant information. The size of the display does credit to the amount of work that went into resoucing, setting out and purchasing these marketing materials for the Central Coast sheds.

The Committee meets
3pm on the first Wednesday of each month
at the Tuggerah Lakes Community Centre,
1 Bay Village Road Bateau Bay.

Sawmill Demonstration at Alison Homestead

Ian Schultz from Lucas Mills put on an entertaining and informative show for the 34 men that turned up to view the display and enjoy a sausage sandwich on a beautiful sunny day at Alison Homestead.

Ian cut some logs for Mark from the Bateau Bay Mens Shed and then proceeded to make some slabs for Roman to turn into bush furniture around the Alison Homestead.

Thanks to the crew from Alison that kept up with the sausages and drinks for the hungry and thirsty spectators.
